Morale — The Mind Decides
Morale (1–100) is your players' mood. It swings with every competitive match: a win lifts spirits, a loss drags them down. Especially bitter: an overtime loss — that single point barely softens the blow. Morale feeds directly into match strength: a motivated team plays better.
Fresh Into the New Season
At season start, morale is recalculated — based on the previous season's success. The champion starts with their chest out (morale ~100), the bottom-feeder has to pick themselves up first (~50). A reward for good work, an incentive for the coming season.
Energy — Your Most Important Resource
After every game, your deployed players' energy drops. How much depends on the game's importance: a playoff thriller drains more than a friendly. Energy regenerates daily — young players with high stamina recover faster. If energy is in the basement, your team runs on fumes.
During busy weeks with 3 games per week: take a rest day sometimes. The +1 % stamina bonus can make the difference!
| Event | Effect on Morale | Effect on Energy |
|---|---|---|
| 🥇 Win | Strong boost | Noticeable loss |
| 🥈 Loss | Sharp drop | Noticeable loss |
| 🥉 OT Loss | Slight drop | Noticeable loss |
| 🏆 Champion (season start) | Full motivation! | Reset to 100 |
| ☀️ New Day | — | Regeneration |
Controlling morale deliberately
Morale cannot be raised at the push of a button, but it can be strongly influenced indirectly: wins are the best mood booster, defeats the biggest downer. Overtime losses hardly hurt, because you still take a point. Keep your lineup strong and your energy high – then good spirits follow on their own. Your captain also exerts a small influence on the team's mood through his leadership.
Stamina & regeneration
Stamina is an independent value influenced by age and career phase. Young, fit players regenerate faster than older ones. After a match energy drops depending on match importance – a playoff thriller drains far more than a meaningless friendly. Goalies lose less energy on average than skaters.
Energy management in busy weeks
In busy weeks with three games per week, energy management decides between win and loss. Set match importance low in unimportant games, rotate your lines and give exhausted players a rest. Your substitute priorities help absorb absences automatically. A team with full energy plays clearly better than one on low flame.
Before every match, look at the energy bar of your starting lineup. If it is low, reduce match importance or swap out individual players – the fresh player often brings more than the tired star.
Form & consistency
The form of your players fluctuates with results. Several wins in a row not only raise morale, but also lead to better performances through chemistry and confidence. Conversely, a longer losing streak can dampen the mood. So try to score individual successes even in difficult phases – one won game can turn the trend.
Morale at season start
At the start of every season morale is recalculated – based on the previous season's success. The champion starts with a broad chest, the bottom team must first get back up. Use a good start to the season to keep morale high and lay the foundation for a strong season. A motivated team plays more consistently over the whole duration.
Watch the energy bar especially before playoffs and relegation games. A fresh team in the decisive matches is often worth more than a tired one with a nominally stronger lineup.
